Infertility Treatment in Primary Ovarian Insufficiency: Fertility Preservation and In Vitro Activation

چکیده
Primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) affects about 1% of women in the reproductive age. These women are below 40 years of age, experience amenorrhoea for at least 4 months, and have two readings of serum follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) of more than 40IU/L at one month apart [1-3]. Those who plan to expand their families are mostly left with the option of adoption or oocyte donation. However, donor oocyte is not an option for some of these women due to personal and religious reasons, and is in rare supply. With delayed childbearing being the current norm in Japan and many other countries, where the average age of having the first child has increased to 31 years of age in Japan, sub-fertility is rapidly emerging as a common presentation. Furthermore, this situation is associated with increases in the number of infertile POI patients. Although it is difficult to change the delayed childbearing in modern society, recent advances in reproductive medicine allows us to predict POI before onset of complete amenorrhea, preserve fertility in POI patients, and establish new infertility treatment for POI patients.

I-6: Fertility Preservation in Male Patient with Cancer
Studies suggest that the ability to have biological children is of great importance to many people. The cancer and its treatment often pose a threat to fertility. Rates of permanent infertility and compromised fertility after cancer treatment vary and depend on many factors. Male infertility can result from the disease itself (best documented in patients with testicular cancer and Hodgkin’s lym...
متن کاملInm-2: New Approaches in Cryopreservation
Cryopreservation of embryos and gametes has become an indispensible service for infertility treatment. Vitrification is now a prevalent technique for cryopreservation in assisted reproductive technology (ART) replacing, in many cases, conventional slow cooling methodology. Fertility preservation in female patients has become a very topical issue. Various malignant and nonmalignant diseases have...
متن کاملO-43: Mutations in NR5A1 Associated withOvarian Insufficiency
Background: The genetic causes of nonsyndromic ovarian insufficiency are largely unknown. A nuclear receptor, NR5A1 (also called steroidogenic factor 1), is a key transcriptional regulator of genes involved in the hypothalamic–pituitary–steroidogenic axis. Mutation of NR5A1 causes 46,XY disorders of sex development, with or without adrenal failure, but growing experimental evidence from studies...
متن کاملP-222: Ovarian Stimulation for Fertility Preservation in Cancer Patients: A Prospective Study
Background: To determine whether random-start controlled ovarian stimulation (COS), in which a stimulation is performed regardless to day of patient’s menstrual cycle, has similar outcomes in comparison to conventional early follicular phase-start COS for cryopreservation of fertilized oocytes in cancer patients. Materials and Methods: This prospective study was performed at two infertility cen...
متن کاملThe Genetics of Non-Syndromic Primary Ovarian Insufficiency: A Systematic Review
Purpose: Several causes for primary ovarian insufficiency have been described, including iatrogenic and environmental factor, viral infections, chronic disease as well as genetic alterations. Given the large number of genes described in the literature so far, the aim of this review was to collect all the genetic mutations associated with non-syndromic primary ovarian insufficiency. Methods: All...
